Dakota Encounters is a film by Christine Craton and Tim Schwab to tell the story of the first expeditions of Joseph N. Nicollet into the Sisseton region. Produced in 1993, the film was funded by grants from the South Dakota and Minnesota Humanities Councils and the National Endowment for the Humanities among other state and local sponsors.
